Natural Slate is a fine-grained metamorphic stone formed from clay, sedimentary rock shale and sometimes quartz. Natural graining, occasional fossils, and a range of colour make slate a rustic yet refined choice in décor. Available mostly with riven (rough surface) finishes and diamond sawn edges. Some slate is honed to give perfectly smooth surface finishes. The range of colours available varies from plain tiles in honey, light grey, brown and grey/black. Multicolour types include soft grey/greens woven together with rust veins, vivid reddish browns and tans interwoven with black and golden ambers. Chinese Mix styles are full of character and subtle colours including greys, bottle greens, autumn brown and reds. They come in various sizes, e.g. 300x300, 450,450, 600x300, 600x600 to create regular patterns or totally random effects when laid. |
