Art Deco was a style that flourished between the wars and was a reaction
against the excessive design that came before. It was greatly inspired
by the archaeological finds in Egypt in the 1920's and echoed the
strong angular shapes of the ancient Egyptian buildings. The style
married the aesthetics of fine art and the machine age.
Art Deco tiles show an imaginative use of geometrical form in combination
with strong high gloss colours, black being one of the most used colours
of the time.
Plain functional tiling was favoured with the occasional inserts of
decorative tiles, which help to offset the severe functionalism of
the plain tiles and gives the room a very stylish feel.
A wide variety of colour ways and specialist pieces are available
enabling you to achieve an individual stylish finish. |
